Castellón, Spain (PortSEurope) September 19, 2017 – Castellón port handled the biggest clay shipment in its history on September 19.
The Kang Shun vessel of Cosco Shipping, loaded with 53,758 tonnes of clay was handled at the PortSur terminal of Castellón harbour.
Castellón port has handled a total of 1,502,025 tonnes of clay since the beginning of 2017. The importance of this type of traffic for the harbour, as well as the strong rise of ceramics shipments, has made the port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Castellón) invest in the amplification of its area by 90,000 square metres this year.
The port currently occupies the fourth position in the ranking of the largest Spanish harbours in terms of solid bulk traffic. Two years ago, the port ranked eighth.
