Bilbao, Spain (PortSEurope) November 2, 2017 – Spanish companies Cespa Gestión de Residuos and Saisa Port have decided to settle in Bilbao port to optimise logistics costs. Both companies will be located on Pier AZ-1 of the harbour.
Bilbao port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Bilbao) has indicated that Cespa Gestión de Residuos will occupy 7,000 square metres for the creation of an industrial waste treatment plant. The investment amounts to €1.4 million ($1.6 million). The company considers starting its activity in 2018 and aims to handle 30,000 tonnes of waste annually.
Saisa, on the other hand, will occupy an area of 3,400 square metres for the storage and distribution of solid bulk, mainly carbonate and sodium bicarbonate. The project includes the construction of a warehouse of 2,800 square metres, with a capacity of a maximum of 16,000 tonnes and a height of 10.13 metres.
The terminal will also have an exterior silo for loading tankers. The total investment, including the equipment of the ship and secondary facilities, will be close to €1.3 million ($1.5 million). The initial traffic will be 32,000 tonnes, and the works have a deadline of seven months.
