Port Yuzhniy, Ukraine (PortSEurope) September 12, 2017 – China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has started its second project at Ukraine’s Port Yuzhniy, namely the reconstruction of the access channel and the interior waterways of the harbour.
Under the terms of the contract, CHEC will increase the draft of docks 5 and 6 to 21 metres and will expand the width of the access channel to up to 230 metres from 180, Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) said.
USPA will invest a total of UAH 586 million ($22.5 million/€18.8 million) in the project, which is expected to be completed by 2019.
“The execution of the project will increase the competitive advantage of Port Yuzhniy and will reinforce its status as the deepest one in Ukraine,” the president of USPA, Raivis Veckagans noted.
CHEC started works on the project with its two-harrow self-propelled trailing suction dredger “Tong Li” which arrived at the port on July 24.
