Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) February 12, 2018 – GNV (Grandi Navi Veloci), a member of the MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) Group, has announced the signing of an agreement between GNV and Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (GSI) shipyards four large ro-pax vessels and options on four others.
The four ships, two of which for the GNV and the remaining ones for the Onorato family, will be last generation units with low environmental impact, with LNG-ready processes, confirming the continued commitment of GNV to invest in technological innovation and offer its customers a reliable, comfortable and modern service.
With a capacity of 3765 linear metres, onboard services including restaurant, self-service, bar, 536 cabins to accommodate up to 2500 passengers and crew, the new units will have a speed of 25 knots and will be characterized by high standards of comfort , in line with the company’s positioning.
The two new ships destined to GNV, whose first delivery is scheduled for November 2020, have been designed to reduce the environmental impact in compliance with all European and international regulations: if the infrastructures allow it, it will also be possible to operate the units using the natural gas (LNG) as a fuel.
The contract also envisages the possibility of opting for the further construction of four other latest generation ro-pax twin units, two of which for GNV and the remaining for the Onorato family.
