Rijeka, Croatia (PortSEurope) September 12, 2017 – LNG Croatia LLC, the company responsible for the development of LNG import terminal Project on the island of Krk, is seeking partners to build a gas pipeline and for the procurement of a Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU).
Bids must be submitted by September 29, a second round will follow for binding bids, with final selection by year-end.
The FSRU project consists of the design and construction of jetty, connecting gas pipeline and high-pressure installations including pigging station, water and drainage, auxiliary facilities and buildings.
The LNG receiving terminal will be located in Omišalj county on the island of Krk in Croatia. Krk LNG terminal is an important factor in the diversification of natural gas supply as well as the enhancement of security of natural gas supply for Central and South-Eastern Europe.
On February 17, 2017, the European Union announced that the Connecting Europe Fund (CEF) would support the project to the tune of €102 million ($122.06 million), subject to various conditions being met.
Krk is a large Croatian island in the northern Adriatic Sea, connected to the mainland by a bridge. It is less than 50 km south of the port of Rijeka, and is the location of Rijeka airport.
