Valletta, Malta (PortSEurope) January 23, 2017 – Maltese port of Valletta handled 626,000 passengers in 2016, up 4.3% on the year.
Transit traffic stood at 568,000 passengers, up 7.2%, while arrivals and departures declined by 17.3% and amounted to 58,000.
The number of cruise ships calling at Valletta port stood at 316, with an average of 1,981 passengers, versus 307 calls a year earlier.
A total of 74% of the passengers handled at the port were citizens of EU member states.
