Bar, Montenegro (PortSEurope) February 17, 2017 – Montenegrin state-run railway cargo company Montecargo transported 600,000 tonnes of bauxite produced by local miner Uniprom Metali in 2016, CEO Milivoje Pavicevic said. The bauxite was transported to Bar port, from where it was exported to China, Pavicevic added.
The company expects a significant improvement in financial performance in 2017, with profit seen to soar to €1.5 million ($1.6 million), as a result of a number of contracts signed for the transport of cargo to Bar port, Pavicevic added.
The contracts are for the transport of grain and acids from Serbia to the port of Bar, as well as of salt port for road maintenance to Serbia from Bar harbour, Pavicevic explained.
