Motril (Spain) January 18, 2018 – Motril port has taken advantage of the launch of Fitur fair in Madrid on January 17 to deliver symbolically to the Autonomous City of Melilla and to shipping company Naviera Armas S.A. the keys to the new maritime passenger terminal, built in the Levante dock of the Granada dock.
Melilla is one of the autonomous cities with the largest flow of passengers, with a total of 209,000 in 2017. This is 63% of the total connections operating in Motril. In addition, it occupies 63% of the total connections at the port
The deputy tourism councillor of Melilla, Francisco Javier Mateo, said that the passenger terminal “is an example of growth that comes to improve the quality of service that Melilla citizens receive when they travel to the peninsula”.
The new terminal covers an area of 1,500 square metres on two floors. The terminal consists of a ground floor with rest areas for passengers and for the sale of tickets, among other services, and the first floor for boarding and disembarking, which will be done through an independent gateway.
