Ravenna, Italy (PortSEurope) March 15, 2017 – Italian provider of logistic solutions for the storage, handling and distribution of bulk liquids, dry goods and packaged products La Petrolifera Italo Rumena S.p.a. (PIR) has applied for approval for the launch of a project for the storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Ravenna port.
PIR plans to carry out the project in cooperation with Italian energy group Edison S.p.A. and to make an investment of around €70 million ($74.9 million) in its execution. The companies have submitted the necessary documentation for the launch of an environmental impact study (EIS) for the construction of the storage facility.
The project will be carried out in two phases. Under the first one, the companies will build a storage facility with a capacity of 10,000 cu m. The second step will consist in the doubling of the facility’s capacity to 20,000 cu m.
