Salerno, Italy (PortSEurope) January 11, 2018 – Salerno port’s container traffic rose by 13% in 2017 to between 420,000 and 430,000 TEUs, according to official preliminary data.
Italian company SCT S.p.A. (Salerno Container Terminal), a subsidiary of Gruppo Gallozzi, handled 80% of the total container traffic and managed to increase it by 18%.
Given the positive figures, the management of Sct SpA is convinced that the port is on the right path to continue to compete successfully with other Mediterranean ports, the president of the company, Agostino Gallozzi, has said.
Leading international shipping companies chose Salerno port in 2017 to launch new lines with China and the Far East, South America, Canada, Middle East, Africa and the Mediterranean, he added.
Gallozzi Group offers third-party shipping, stevedoring and terminal arrangements in the port of Salerno to customers in the south and centre of Italy.
