Tanger Med, Morocco (PortSEurope) October 11, 2017 – TangerMed and Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) have launched TangerMed Freight, a computerized platform where carriers and customers can interact. This computer tool has existed for a long time in Europe where it is one of the bases of work of any carrier and logistician such as European Cargo or Teleroute.
“The objective is to create a national stock exchange that allows Moroccan operators and carriers to break free from similar platforms in Europe,” said Fouad Brini, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TangerMed Group. “It is currently in the testing phase, and its entry online is imminent,” said Hassan Abkary, director of the passenger terminal and ro-ro ferry port of TangerMed. From its inception, the platform will be able to process the equivalent of 30,000 operations per day to satisfy the demand of the national and international transport sectors in Morocco.
The objective is to facilitate the search for orders for the carriers, on one side and to quickly find a transport to the customers of the other. This will reduce the number of empty returns, a problem for carriers. In this way, a carrier who has unloaded his truck in Casablanca will find transportation easily on his return trip to Tangier to avoid driving at a loss. The impact on the development of the sector will be significant by increasing the profitability of travel for both carriers and customers.
This key because of the growing number of subcontractors working for PSA (Groupe PSA Peugeot Citroën) in the vicinity of Kénitra and for Renault in Tangiers and Somaca are boosting the transport market.
