Taranto, Spain (PortSEurope) December 21, 2017 – The president of the Authority of the Ionian Sea Port System (Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ionio), Sergio Prete, participated in the Shanghai International Forum Port & Shipping Development, organised by Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI).
Prete’s presence took place in the framework of the multi-year partnership between the Authority of the Ionian Sea Port System and the SISI, which is based on a collaboration to develop joint projects in the academic, industrial and commercial sectors through joint participation in events in the transport sector. The collaboration aims at the realisation, both in China and in Italy, of a network that promotes the sharing of resources in the maritime transport and port sectors.
In his speech, Prete explained to Chinese decision makers the new perspective of the Italian ports in the light of the recent reform of the legislation and presented the opportunities offered by Taranto port. Moreover, as part of the institutional mission in China, the president of the port authority held a series of meetings with leading operators in the port sector linked to container and cruise traffic.
