Tenerife, Spain (PortSEurope) September 12, 2017 – Tenerife port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Tenerife) expects the number of cruise passengers handled in September to rise to 38,300, or 12,500 more than in the like period of last year.
In this way, Tenerife port starts the cruise season, running between September and April, with serious optimism. The port expects to handle 300,000 cruise passengers in the last four months of the aforementioned period.
The number of 17 scheduled cruise calls for September will be boosted in each November and December when they will exceed 46, the port authority said.
The “TUI Discovery” and “AIDAsol” ships will start operating Tenerife as a base port in September and will handle 16,000 passengers at the harbour this month.
Tenerife port expects the cruise traffic in 2017 to rise by 2.76% to 575,400 passengers. A total of 628,000 passengers are expected in 2018.
