Monfalcone, Italy (PortSEurope) January 14,2018 – On January 3, 2018, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region allocated €1.222 million to Fratelli Cosulich and Friultrans (€222,800 for 2017 and €1 million for 2018) to develop the maritime transport of slabs (semi-finished steel rectangular section) between Monfalcone and Porto Nogaro.
A further €400,000 are destined for the transport of rail slabs between the port of Monfalcone and the rolling mills in the industrial area of Aussa-Corno in the Municipality of San Giorgio di Nogaro, which currently takes place on the road.
The region has allocated €200,000 to Inter-Rail for a trial service of railway transport of slabs from Monfalcone to Porto Nogaro, and €200,000 for the expressions of interest by DB Cargo Italy, Captrain Italy and Mercitalia Rail.
