Odessa, Ukraine (PortSEurope) May 16, 2018 – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Thursday adopted a general list of objects subject to privatization in 2018-2020, in which, besides 26 large enterprises, there are a total of more than 700 companies. Among them, according to the list published by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and all 13 state port stevedores.
There is a further two weeks for the list to be finalised which will take into account proposals from management.
Earlier, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan said that for the state stevedoring companies concession/privatisation was defined as a better option than privatization.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) head, Raivis Veckagans, called for the privatization, saying it will help attract investment, save jobs and make stevedoring companies more efficient.
