Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) January 12, 2018 – Valencia port handled nearly 190,000 tonnes of cargo with the Cuban ports of Havana, Mariel and Santiago in 2017, and was the gateway for 22,000 TEUs to and from the Caribbean country.
Valencia port received a visit of the ambassador of Cuba to Spain, Gustavo Machín. The meeting, which was also attended by the Economic and Commercial Councillor of the Embassy, Janet Fernández, was attended by Francesc Sánchez, general director of Valencia port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia).
Among other aspects, the Valencia port representatives presented the competitive advantages of the harbour for the transport of cargo between Spain and America, highlighting the connections of Valencia port with more than 1,000 harbours on the five continents.
The Cuban delegation visited the facilities of the APV and knew in detail the operation and potentialities of Valencia port. The meeting concluded with a visit to the port area where the Cuban officials inspected the port facilities.
