Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) September 13, 2017 – Valencia port boosted its cargo traffic with Cuba in 2016. It amounted to 235,000 tonnes last year, versus a total of 108,000 tonnes in the ten years ended 2015.
Mariel port is the main Cuban trading partner of Valencia harbour, as it accounted for 88% of total traffic with the Latin American country. A total of 55.36% of the cargo traffic consisted of exports from Valencia, 19.58% were exports and 25.06% was transshipment.
In 2016, the exports rose by 13.3% and imports went up 5.14%. The container traffic, in turn, stood at 24,829 TEUs in 2016.
