Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) September 19, 2017 – Valencia port and the Chinese harbour of Tianjin have set the basis for the signing of an agreement to facilitate the commercial exchange between their hinterlands.
The two ports plan to sign a cooperation deal in terms of commercial, industrial, cultural and safety matters during a meeting of the president of the port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia), Aurelio Martínez, and the president of Tianjin Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Zang Xianfu.
There has always been a will for cooperation between Valencia and China. This is demonstrated by such visits and the investment of Cosco in the most important container terminal of Valencia port (Noatum), Martínez said.
Tianjin is a gateway to the most important logistics and industrial hubs in northern China. The port acts as a bridge between the Chinese interests and the one of Spanish entrepreneurs who wish to set up commercial ties with the Tianjin hinterland, Zang Xianfu noted.
Valencia port handled a total of 7.04 million tonnes of cargo in 2016, up 13.75%.
