Venice, Italy (PortSEurope) September 11, 2017 – Venice port has completed the handling of the third lot of an intermodal project cargo operation that involved the transport of four heat exchangers with a weight of 130 tonnes each through the Adige river from the Rovigo logistics complex.
Venice port is the only in Italy to handle river intermodal transport with V class barges. The project cargo transport from Rovigo to Venice is carried out by Fagioli Spa and Tecnoservice, both operating carriers that already regularly connect Venice to Mantua.
The project cargo handling represents a concrete example of a port and a logistics system that operates on a regional level, in synergy, proving the efficient integration of a service that can connect Venice port to the market of the northern region of Lombardy, the president of the Venice-based port authority, Pino Musolino, said.
