Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) April 23, 2019 – The Luka Koper port authority has reported a new railway service connecting Enns, in Austria, with Koper port container terminal, which commenced operations April 12, 2019.
Transport provider METRANS is operating the export-focused block-train on behalf of Maersk as intermodal operator and has a 1x frequency with arrivals in Koper on Saturdays, closely linked to Maersk AE12 ocean service, which is connecting Koper to the Mediterranean and the Far East ports.
The service is a new addition to the vast network of daily connections Koper has with Austria’s logistic and industrial centres, whether for containers but also for dry bulk, break bulk and liquid cargoes.
Slovakia-based METRANS provides all-inclusive, just-in-time intermodal rail-road transportation solutions, operating it own shuttle trains with cargo in maritime – deep sea and short sea, reefer, tank and special containers to / from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Benelux, Austria, Slovenia and Poland. The Enns inland port, Ennshafen, connects the main transport routes of international goods traffic, the Rhine-Main-Danube waterway from west to east and the north-south railway lines from the North Sea to the Adriatic Sea.
