Taranto, Italy (PortSEurope) November 21, 2018 – The Management Committee of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ionio (AdSP – Ionian Sea Port Authority) has accepted the request for a concession from Yilport Holding AS.
The 49-year concession is for the entire maritime state property called Polisettial Pier of the port of Taranto (with the exception of the Calata 5 and backwaters) in order to make the multipurpose terminal operational for the development of trade and logistics.
The committee an opportunity to pursue public interests aimed at guaranteeing the widest and most profitable use of the Pier, the revival of employment, the increase in port traffic and logistics, as well as the enhancement of the infrastructures realized, as well as the role of the port of Taranto and the Italian port system in both the Mediterranean and international markets.
Prior to the decision, the Management Committee considered the interest of Italcave SpA and Southgate Europe Terminal Consortium, and still awaits the outcome of the precautionary hearing to be held by the Puglia-Lecce Regional Administrative Court, concerning the appeal filed by the Southgate Europe Terminal Consortium.
It can then start the processes needed for the full operation of the terminal, for the start of the gradual relocation of the workers of the Taranto Port Workers Srl agency and for the commercial relaunch.
