Albania reports increased sea cargo traffic in March 2021

The volume of freight loading/unloading in ports, in March 2021 is 370,800 tonnes, increasing 45.7 % compared to March 2020. Compared with the monthly average for the month of March 2018-2020, the volume of freight loading/unloading in ports increased by 13.5 % – April 28, 2021 In the first quarter of 2021, the volume of freight loading/unloading in ports is 1.08 million tonnes, increasing by
14.5 % compared to the first quarter of 2020. The volume of freight transported by rail in March 2021 is 2.7 million / tonnes–km increasing by 4.2 % compared to March 2020. The volume of freight transported by rail increased by 11.9 %, compared with monthly average for March period 2018-2020. In the first quarter of 2021, volume of freights transported by rail is 8.1 million tonnes-km, decreasing by 6.2 % compared to the first quarter of year 2020. In March 2021, the volume of freights transported by air is 176.8 tonnes, increasing by 13.6 % compared to March 2020. Compared with monthly average for March period 2018-2020, the volume of freight transported by air increased by 0.1 %. In the first quarter of 2021, the volume of freights transported by air is 449.5 tonnes, decreasing by 12.1 % compared to the first quarter of year 2020. In March 2021, the number of flights is 1,128 marking a increasing of 22.3 % compared to March 2020. Compared with monthly average for March period 2018-2020, the number of flights decreased by 26.1 %. In March 2021, the number of passengers traveling by sea line is 26,054 passengers. Compared to March 2020, this indicator increased by 60.8 %. Compared with monthly average for March period 2018-2020, the number of passengers traveling by sea decreased by 29.9 %. In the first quarter of 2021, 88,302 passengers travelled by sea, decreased by 29.8 % compared to same period of 2020. In March 2021, passenger air transport occupies 75.7 % of the total transport. In March 2021, the number of passengers traveling by air is 82,872 passengers, increased by 8.9 % compared to March 2020. Compared with monthly average for March period 2018-2020, the number of passengers traveling by air decreased by 48.2 %. In the first quarter of 2021, the number of passengers traveling by air line is 241,450 passengers, decreasing by 53.2 % compared to the first quarter of year 2020. In March 2021, the value of goods traded (exports and imports) is 96.2 billion ALL and 47.9 % of them is transported by sea. In the first quarter of 2021, value of goods traded (exports and imports) is 242.4 billion ALL and 50.5 % of them is transported by sea. Exports of goodsIn March 2021, goods exported by sea represent 51.9 %, by road 36.5 % and by air 0.2 % of total exports of goods. Goods exported by road increased by 59.9 % compared with the same period of 2021 increased 30.2 %, compared with monthly average for March period 2018-2020. In the first quarter of 2021, goods exported by sea represent 57.7 %, by road 34.8 % and by air 0.2 %. Goods exported by road increased by 18.3 % compared to same period of 2020. Imports of goodsIn March 2021, goods imported by sea represent 46.0 %, by road 49.9 % and by air 3.3 %. Goods imported by road in March 2021 increased by 62.6 % compared to March 2020. Import of goods transported by road in March 2021 increased 53.1 %, compared with monthly average for March period2018-2020. In the first quarter of 2021, goods imported by sea represented 46.9 %, by road 47.3 % and by air 3.0 %. Goods imported by road increased by 28.7 % compared with the same period of 2020.
