Alexandroupolis Port Authority managers meet Italian ambassador

Alexandroupolis, Greece (PortSEurope) December 5, 2018 – Executives of the Port Authority of Alexandroupolis attended on Thursday 29 November 2018 at a meeting hosted by Evros Deputy Chief Evangelical Petrovich, in the Prefecture Alexandroupolis, with the Italian Ambassador to Greece Luigi Marras, Honorary Consul of Italy in Kavala Federico Lazaridis and trade embassy of Italy in Greece Enrico Barbato.

The Greek port officials presented the activities of the port including its role in Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and the Alexandroupolis liquified natural gas (LNG) facility.

Also, highlighted was the developing cooperation in recent years with Italian ports in the context of implementation European territorial cooperation programs, including the recent signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Italian Adriatic ports, Greek ports along the Egnatia and Burgas port to promote a new one multimodal transport route called ADRIETA, which will unite the macroregion Adriatic-Ionian Sea with the Black Sea and Black Sea markets

The relationship between the city, the harbour and TrainOSE, the Greek railway company acquired by Italy’s Ferrovie dello stato Italiane.

Finally, the Italian Ambassador was informed and invited to the proceedings of the Development Conference “Alexandroupolis: Transit Center – Combined Transport – Energy”, which GAIAOSE, the Municipality of Alexandroupolis, Port Authority of Alexandroupolis and others are co-organizing on 7-9 December, in Alexandroupolis.
