La Spezia, Italy (PortSEurope) July 3, 2019 – Alfredo Scalisi has been appointed new General Manager of Contship Italia’s La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) effective July 1, 2019.
Scalisi will report directly to Group President Mrs. Cecilia Battistello, who is currently covering an interim corporate role as managing director of Operations and Sales of Contship Italia Group.
Scalisi previously held the role of Deputy General Manager at Gioia Tauro for the Medcenter Container Terminal (MCT) up until May 2019 and has a strong professional background in various management roles in the energy, oil and gas sectors.
Cecilia Battistello said: “Alfredo Scalisi has assumed a very important position at La Spezia during a moment of major change and transformation for the shipping industry.
“La Spezia Container Terminal is playing a key role in this ongoing transformation and we shall continue to support our customers with a range of terminal and logistics services delivered with the highest quality.
“In addition, we are continuing with our significant investment programme at the terminal which includes increasing both the quay and rail capacity”.
LSCT is Contship’s regional Gateway Container Terminal in La Spezia, since 1987: evolving as a modern infrastructure with a long tradition of success, ready to accommodate the latest generation of container carriers, and handling a record for Italy of more than 30% of its throughput via rail.
