Algeciras, Tanger Med Port Presidents Meet To Discuss Cooperation

Algeciras, Spain (PortSEurope) June 25, 2019 – The port authorities of Algeciras and Tanger Med, led on this occasion by the presidents of the harbours, Gerardo Landaluce and Mehdi Tazi, respectively, held a meeting to advance the innovation and logistics plans maintained by both institutions.

Algeciras port’s general director José Luis Hormaechea and the president of the Supervisory Council of the TMSA, Fouad Brini, have participated in a meeting whose objective is to advance the aforementioned plans to facilitate the traffic of passengers and cargo between the European Union and Morocco through the Strait of Gibraltar.

In this sense, Algeciras port has highlighted that the Algeciras-Tanger Med maritime link continues to grow. In fact, between January and May 2019, it handled more than 614,000 passengers, 20% more than in the like period last year.
