Alicante, Spain (PortSEurope) November 8, 2018 – The Board of Autoridad Portuaria de Alicante (APA – Port Authority of Alicante) has authorized the renewal of the concession, granted in June 2014, in favour of Repsol Comercial de Productos Petrolíferos SA, to install a service station on a plot in the western area of the port of Alicante.
However, the studies on the condition of the land concluded that there was affected by hydrocarbons and it was essential to be cleaned up and recovered.
As a result, the Board of Directors of the APA decided, in December 2015, to suspend the concession until a sanitation plan for all affected lands was addressed.
The recovery project, which had to be addressed by CLH, the previous concessionaire of the land, was submitted to validation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development, the competent body in this matter.
After meeting the conditions established by the port authority, on April 10, Repsol requested the resumption of the concession in order to start construction work on the service station.
