Alicante Port Expects 3% Cargo Traffic Rise In 2017

Alicante, Spain (PortSEurope) December 21, 2017 – Alicante port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Alicante) expects its cargo traffic to rise by 3% in 2017, the president of the institution, Juan Antonio Gisbert, said.

The port expects the number of cruise calls to rise by two, while the number of passengers to increase by 5,000, Gisbert said.

In 2016, the port handled 3.472 million tonnes, up 32.66% on the year and 1.9 million tonnes of them were solid bulk cargo. The container traffic grew by 19.26%, while the number of cruise passengers rose 8.12% to 89,000.
