Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy (PortSEurope) October 31, 2019 – The president of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Di Sardegna (AdSP – Sardinian Sea Port Authority), Massimo Deiana, has met with the visiting Egyptian ambassador Hisham Mohamed Moustafa Badr in order to develop commercial trade by sea between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by AdSP general secretary, Natale Ditel, and the marketing manager, Valeria Mangiarotti.
Deiana presenteded the data on cargo movement from and to Egypt from the ports of Cagliari, Oristano and Olbia which annually amount to about 100,000 tons of bulk goods (cement, cereals, food and chemical products) plus an additional 150,000 in containers.
“It was”, said Deiana, “a fundamental meeting, an important moment to present our port, the infrastructural offer of Cagliari port, in particular that of the Porto Canale which will continue to play a key role in the commercial exchanges between countries, but also an opportunity to discuss the already active traffic between our airports and Egypt. No fierce competition, but a great desire for collaboration to develop new commercial initiatives that see our island as a privileged partner of North Africa.”
