
Azerbaijan traffic on TRACECA transport corridor reaches 23.6 million tons

Baku, Azerbaijan (PortSEurope) October 4, 2021 – In the period January-July 2021, the total volume of cargo transportation through the Azerbaijani section of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) transport corridor was 23.6 million tons, according to Azertag. By transport method: 13.3 million tons or 56.2% was by road, 7.6 million tons (32.5%) by rail and 2.6 million tons (11.3%) by sea. Transit cargo accounted for 5.3 million tons (22.4%) of the
total. TRACECA transported 35.5 million tons of cargo through Azerbaijan, including 7.5 million tons or 21.2 percent of transit cargo. Today, the TRACECA route comprises the transport system of the 13 member-states of the “Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for Development of the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia Corridor” (MLA TRACECA): Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
