Baku, Azerbaijan (PortSEurope) September 15, 2020 – The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has said that it sees the country’s businesses could increase their ties with Firms in Azerbaijan, particularly in the energy sector. SECO commented to the local Trend magazine that Azerbaijan has geographical assets, including the new Alat Free Economic Zone next to the Port of Baku and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
“In general, the cooperation between Azerbaijani and Swiss companies in the sphere of transport depends on the mutual interest of these companies. The fruitful cooperation between Stadler Rail and Azerbaijan Railways regarding trains, for example on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route, can be mentioned as an example,” said SECO. SECO sees Switzerland as a provider of innovative technology in the field of renewable energy. Swiss company Axpo has a 5% stake in the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, which will deliver gas from Azerbaijan to Southern Italy. SECO is the Swiss federal government`s centre of excellence for all core issues relating to economic and labour market policy. Copyright (C) PortSEurope. All Rights Reserved. 2020.
