
Barcelona port delegation meets Vinamarine representatives in Hanoi

Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) November 14, 2018 – The delegation of the trade mission from the port of Barcelona to Vietnam left the capital of the Asian country and to move to Ho Chi Minh, one of the most important centres of economic activity. The delegation has an agenda of business contacts in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi. Managers of the port of Danang, with very high growth, were interested in the
management model of Barcelona port of and expressed willingness to visit the Catalan port. Institutional representatives and the port of Barcelona met in Hanoi with the general director and the deputy director of International Cooperation of Vinamarine, an organisation that manages all the Vietnamese ports. In addition to presenting the services and economic opportunities offered by Catalonia and the port of Barcelona, the foundations were laid for the signing a Memorandum of Understanding in key aspects such as port infrastructures, training and the port community system. A port delegation together with the private companies that manage the coffee traffic in the port of Barcelona, met with members of VICOFA (Vietnamese Coffee and Cocoa Federation). Coffee is the star product of Vietnam, exporter of 1.6 million bags of which 44% to Europe and of this amount approximately 20% is received in the dedicated terminals of the port of Barcelona.
