Bari, Italy (PortSEurope) February 13, 2019 – Haifa port authority representatives have completed a visit to the southern Italian region of Apulia to sign cooperation agreements reached during the meetings carried out by the president of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Meridionale (AdSP – Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority), Ugo Patroni Griffi, in Israel.
The Israeli delegation held a detailed guided tour of the Adriatic airport, during which the summits the company illustrated its operational characteristics and technological equipment. Upon returning to the site, with the support of audiovisual instruments, data on commercial and passenger traffic were shown, and the numerous projects that the port authority put in place were illustrated.
The delegation’s journey continues today at the port of Brindisi.
“The Israeli economy continues to show an impressive dynamism”, comments the president Patroni Griffi. “The country has started and developed trade with both China, which now considers Israel on a par with the Suez Canal and the Greek port of Piraeus as fundamental elements for the maritime vision of its New Silk Road,” Patroni Griffi said.
The delegation also visited the port of Brindisi. “I want to nominate the ports of our system to play the role of a bridge in the Mediterranean basin, considering that Israel is totally dependent on maritime traffic: 99% of the volume of its import- in fact, exports go through the sea and foreign trade accounts for 63% of GDP,” the president of the Italian port authority added.
