Bilbao Port Authority awards contract for technical support energy transition plan

Bilbao, Spain (PortSEurope) March 3, 2021 – Bilbao Port Authority has awarded the Saitec company €59,728 ($72,230) for technical support for an energy transition plan to achieve a carbon-neutral scenario by 2050, in line with European and national targets. The contract is part of the port’s efforts to promote various initiatives to make the port a more efficient and sustainable place. To this end, it promotes
an energy model based on savings (reduction of energy consumption), energy efficiency (equal production with lower energy consumption) and distributed energy generation, from renewable sources, to individual or group installations located at points close to consumption. integrated from an impact perspective and following business models that will allow this strategy to be sustained over time. The planned works will be completed in the first months of 2022 and will provide the port with an analysis of current and future energy needs, after which a Strategic Decarbonisation Plan for 2050 will be drawn up.
