Bilbao, Spain (PortSEurope) April 12, 2019 – Bahía de Bizkaia Gas (BBG), owner of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification plant located in Bilbao port, received in 2018 a total of 36 vessels, an increase of 8.4%.
The vessels moved 4.91 million m³ of LNG and that represented 6.1% of the traffic of the port of Bilbao in 2018.
BBG regasified a total of 31,539 GWh which, up 7.7% compared to the 29,265 GWh of the previous year. It also recharged a LNG export vessel for an amount of 648.79 GWh and loaded a total of 828.60 GWh in LNG tanks, an increase of 27.3%.
The main origins of the LNG were Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, Nigeria, Norway and Qatar, joined by the USA and Russia. “Having these new points of origin of gas means a consolidation of the position of BBG in traffic from northern Europe,” the company said.
