Burgas, Bulgaria (PortSEurope) June 24, 2019 – Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rosen Zhelyazkov, said during the final press conference on the project Design and Construction of Risk Prevention and Security of Sea Ports Technical Systems (RPSSP) event, that the new advanced video surveillance system, built by Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI), is European as it guarantees the security of the European Union member state – Bulgaria.
With the high-tech video surveillance system, both Burgas port and city become more secure place to live, said the Director General of BPI, Anguel Zabourtov. He said that BPI is actively cooperating with all the services that are relevant to the country’s security. Zabourtov added that the ambition of BPI is for all the systems built by the company to be integrated with other systems in the country and specified that so far it has been successful.
The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014–2020 and with funds from the national budget. Within the project, two command and control operation centres for monitoring and management of the complex of technical facilities are built, connected thorough a platform for integrated analytical processing and information visualization that provides technological opportunities for prevention and sustainable suppression of the risk potentials. The high-tech advanced security system already operates on the territory of Varna-East, Varna-West and Burgas- East 1 port terminals.
