Cargo traffic down nearly 30% at Koper port

Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) October 16, 2020 – In August this year, total cargo traffic was 1.3 million tons, down 29.4% ión the same month of 2019. The only growth segment wasconventional goods which totaled 70,000 tons, up +15.9%. Containerized traffic fell by -18.5% to 580,000 tons. Rolling stock registered to 61,000 tons, down -29.8%. Also down was liquid bulk with 332,000 tons (-27.2%) and solid bulk with 260,000
tons (-50.9%). In the first eight months of 2020, the port handled a total of 12.4 million tons of goods, down -19.6% on the same period last year. Containerized cargo was 5.5 million tons (-10.7%). Conventional goods and rolling stock decreased by -16.5% and -14.1% respectively to 783,000 and 609,000 tons. The solid bulk was 3.2 million tons (-32.2%).
