Cargo turnover of Ukrainian ports for 9 months of 2021 was 106.1 million tons

Odessa, Ukraine (PortSEurope) October 7, 2021 – In January-September 2021, the seaports of Ukraine handled a total of 106.13 million tons of cargo, down -10.7% (12.67 million tons) on the same period of 2020. This was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA). Although the quarterly figures are still negative compared to the same periods of 2002, the decline is decreasing from 20.4 % in the
first quarter, 16.5% in the first half to 10 % in the first nine months. During this period, sea ports handled 81.4 million tons of export cargo (-10.6% compared to the same period of 2020), 17.16 million tons of imports (- 5%), 6.1 million tons of transit (-20.1%) and cabotage 1.36 million tons (-28.9%). Ores and grain cargoes handled by the ports in nine months were 27.8 million tons (-17.9%) and 31.6 million tons (-10.3%), respectively. Transshipment of oil products for nine months of this year increased by 50.8% to 1.32 million tons.  Also for nine months of this year, 760,597 TEUs were processed, which is 2% less than in the same period of 2020.  Four ports exceed the volumes of last year – SMF Olbia 3,180,000 tons (+6.4%), Izmail port 2.9 million tons (+21.3%), Reni port 810,330 tons ( +34.1%), Ust-Dunaisk 38,800 tons (+115.6%). The ports of Mariupol and Chernomorsk almost managed similar figures to last year. The cargo turnover of the port of Chernomorsk was 17.1 million tons (-2%), the port of Mariupol 5.19 million tons (-2.6%).
