Castellón Port Breaks Solid Bulk Cargo Traffic Record In May

Castellón, Spain (PortSEurope) June 12, 2018 – Castellón port recorded in May the best month in its history in terms of solid bulk traffic handling by moving 674,386 tonnes, 28% more than in the like period of 2017. The previous record was achieved in August 2017, when the port handled 666,438 tonnes.

Solid bulk in Castellón port grew 8.45% in the first five months of the year to 2,669,330 tonnes. It also increased liquid bulk traffic in May, by 26.3%, to 832,236 tonnes.

Castellón handled 4,270,184 tonnes of liquid bulk in January-May, up 28.13% on the year. General cargo traffic fell by 9.6% in May to 324,708 tonnes, and container traffic stood at 22,783 TEUs, down 5.1%.

Overall, cargo traffic increased by 18.3% in May to 1,831,330 tonnes. With these figures, Castellón port’s total throughput rose 13.19% in the first five months to 8,415,686 tonnes.
