Ceuta port detects potable water contamination

Ceuta, Spain (PortSEurope) June 19, 2018 – Ceuta port has detected a diesel contamination of the potable water supplied by the company Acemsa in its area.

The harbour and Acemsa coordinated a temporary suspension of the water supply to check and clean the network. As the port explained, the contamination may have been caused by an incorrect manipulation of the valves of the network during the fuel discharge operations of the Cepsa oil refinery.

Although the contamination has been restricted only to the pipeline that serves the west docks, the interruption of the service has also been adopted in all docks and the fishing port as a precautionary measure.

The port is operated by Autoridad Portuaria de Ceuta (APC – Port Authority of Ceuta).
