Rijeka, Croatia (PortSEurope) April 12, 2019 – Chinese companies are interested in participating in the project for the modernisation of the railway line linking the Croatian port of Rijeka to the country’s capital Zagreb and further to the Hungarian border, transport minister Oleg Butkovic said.
Croatia is considering whether to propose a concession deal to Chinese investors but needs to align its decision with the European Commission (EC) which is the main source of funding for the project, Butkovic explained.
The Croatian government will finance the largest part of the project with EU funds but may include Chinese financing too, he explained.
