Circle CEO speaks at Black Sea Ports and Shipping event in Varna port

“Automation, integration and interoperability along the supply chain: Concrete opportunities of building optimization and International Fast Trade Lanes integrating IoT & Blockchain” was the title of the speech of Circle’s CEO, Mr. Luca Abatello, at Black Sea Ports and Shipping in Varna.

The Italian Company providing process and management consulting services, innovative technological solutions and digital marketing services for transport and logistics sector highlighted the big opportunities for the Black Sea Area coming from process optimization.

It was held this afternoon in Varna (Bulgaria) during Black Sea Ports and Shipping event (21st-23rd of May) within the session entitled “Innovations in facilitating regional and international trade” the presentation of Circle, international Company providing process and management consulting services, innovative technological solutions and digital marketing solutions for transport and logistics sector, and known for the development of Milos®, an innovative modular software for the optimization of transport of every kind of cargo.

Circle’s CEO Mr. Luca Abatello has pointed out during his speech – entitled “Automation, integration and interoperability along the supply chain: Concrete opportunities of building optimization and International Fast Trade Lanes integrating IoT & Blockchain” – the impact of digitalization and automation on new Supply Chain 4.0 models.

“According to a report by IDC and SAP, IoT will lead to a 15% productivity increase in delivery and supply chain performance – has stated Mr. Abatello during his speech – On the other hand, Maersk and PSA studies demonstrate that the creation of a Blockchain Platform optimized for the logistics field will help to reach the dream of an ‘International Single Window’. Many logistics experts have started to exploit new technologies to improve systems and supply chain networks, to reduce costs and transit-time: thanks to Milos® Blockchain Connector, for instance, smart IoT devices and digital tools such as Blockchain Platforms can be used together”.

Mr. Abatello mentioned later Circle’s vision of International Fast Trade Lanes, conceived as End-to-End solutions able to share and anticipate documents, and to manage the entire information flow provided by different stakeholders using evolved digital Corridor Management Platforms.

Concrete chances of development have already been taken by private actors and public institution involved in B2MOS Project (in collaboration with Port of Livorno) that tested for the first time a preclearing procedure using passive eSeals and a Corridor Management Platform integrating logistics and Customs aspects.

Other international ongoing projects refer to an international RoRo transport of trailers between the Ports of Mersin and Trieste and related dry ports, the development of pilot International Fast Trade Lanes between Northern Africa and EU Corridors, and “Fresh Food Corridors” project, which aims to create an efficient fresh food transport system with the use of reefer containers connecting Middle East to Central Europe through ports of Koper, Venice and Marseille.

Finally, Circle’s CEO presented the strategic partnership “[email protected]” with other companies IB and Aitek, launched to combine the three companies’ respective experiences and know- how they have acquired in the fields of marine services, road and rail traffic management systems, gate automation and tracking & tracing services in order to provide IT solutions which are now covering the entire intermodal Door-To-Door supply chain through an Internet of Things approach (RFID eSeals and tags, Blockchain).

More in particular, [email protected]’s solutions offer to port communities (Port Authorities, Terminal Operators, Shippers) tools for a full integration with Terminal Operating System and Port Community System, for the automation of gate operations, for the management of rail operations inside logistics terminals, and for the planning of rail activities with an advanced graphic interface. In addition, [email protected] proposes IT solutions for monitoring goods along intermodal corridors thanks to the Corridor Management Platform, integrating different Internet of Things solutions and exploiting innovative Customs procedures.
