Civitavecchia Port Container Dispute Suspended Until June

Civitavecchia port container dispute suspended until June

Civitavecchia, Italy (PortSEurope) November 27, 2018 – Francesco Maria di Majo, President of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Centro-Settentrionale (AdSP – Centre-North Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority) has said that a ruling last July affecting traffic in fresh goods has been suspended until June 2019. The ruling resulted in Maersk Lines being unable to unload bananas at Civitavecchia Fruit and Forest Terminal, resulting in the
company using Livorno port as an alternative, which in turn caused Civitavecchia port to lose traffic. It has also reduced tax revenue raised. The ruling has been suspended until a decision is made by Tribuali Amministrativi Regionali (TAR – regional court) in Lazio next June. Source: Copyright (C) PortSEurope. All Rights Reserved. 2018.
