Civitavecchia, Italy (PortSEurope) December 8, 2018 – A “Memorandum of Understanding” signed between Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Centro-Settentrionale (AdSP – Centre-North Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority), the Municipality of Gaeta and Consorzio per lo Sviluppo Industriale del Sud Pontino (South Pontino Industrial Development Consortium) to increase the cruise offer of the region.
The AdSP has launched a study to create a new quay (aligned with the caboto promenade), about 350 metres long and destined for small cruise ships.
Gaeta and the surrounding areas (Formia, Minturno, Itri, Sperlonga, Terracina, Ponza and Ventotene) have a strategic position in the Middle Tyrrhenian Sea, along the main Mediterranean routes and can offer an invaluable basin of cultural and environmental heritage, architectural and religious services for tourism coming from overseas.
With the agreement, the sea economy is recognized as the priority element for the economic and social development of the Gulf of Gaeta, hence the need to mutually support each other to implement a policy of territorial promotion aimed at to encourage cruising and nautical tourism.
