
COSCO Shipping Ports sees January 2021 container traffic up +2.7%

Hong Kong, China (PortSEurope) February 18, 2021 – In the first month of 2021, COSCO Shipping Ports Ltd has reported container traffic of over 8.6 million TEU, an increase of +2.7% on January 2020. Growth was generated by the increase of +4.6% of the volume of traffic enlivened by the terminals of the group in the ports of China (6.3 million TEU), while the traffic
in overseas terminals decreased -2% to 2.3 million TEUs. Among the terminals in the Mediterranean ports, last month the traffic handled in the Spanish ports by the wholly owned subsidiary COSCO Shipping Ports (CSP – Spain) terminals grew by +1.2% rising to 306,000 TEU. Traffic moved in Piraeus by the wholly owned subsidiary Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT) amounted to 365,000 TEU (-14.0%) and in the port of Ports Said by the subsidiary (20%) Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) which was equal to 312,000 TEU.
