Yuzhniy, Ukraine (PortSEurope) January 5, 2018 – P&O Maritime, a company owned by port operator DP World Group, started to operate in Ukraine in January 2018 and will provide towing services in Yuzhniy port.

P & O Maritime has acquired a controlling stake in Ukrainian towing company LB Shipping. The investment company SD Capital (owned by Andrey Stavnitser and Philipp Grushko) acted as co-investor of the transaction.

The deal on acquisition and creating a joint venture was signed by Andrey Stavnitser, SD Capital Partner, and DP World Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem in November 2017 after the visit of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to DP World in the UAE.

Andrey Stavnitser, SD Capital Partner, considers P&O Maritime entering the market to be the biggest exit-deal in Ukraine over the last few years, saying that this was an excellent beginning of the year for the entire Ukrainian investment market, and the private equity market in particular.

“DP World and P&O Maritime’s experience and expertise will definitely contribute to Ukrainian infrastructure. They will bring new quality standards, high market competition and transparency. I am sure, that this deal is to become the first step of a bigger cooperation. We will continue developing logistics and infrastructure, and together will provide world-class services for ship-owners in Ukrainian ports”, said Philipp Grushko, SD Capital Partner.

P & O Maritime is a global operator of port services, established in the UK in 1834. The company provides various port services all over the world, has its own fleet of tug boats, mooring vessels, research vessels, passenger and cruise liners. DP World Group acquired P & O Maritime in 2006.

DP World Group is one of the largest port operators in the world. The company’s headquarters in the port of Jebel Ali (Dubai). The company operates 78 marine and inland terminals in 40 countries, and also runs 50 related businesses.

SD Capital investment company was created in 2016 by Andrey Stavnitser, Co-owner and CEO of the biggest Ukrainian port TIS, and Philipp Grushko, TIS Head of business development. SD Capital partners both with global and local firms to maximize value of investments in Ukraine.
