
DP World Limassol achieves Authorised Economic Operator status

Limassol, Cyprus (PortSEurope) August 23, 2021 – DP World Limassol has been accredited with Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status by the Customs & Excise Department of Cyprus, which authorises simpler and faster customs procedures and ensuring the security and integrity of cargo throughout the supply chain. The AEO status is a certified standard authorisation, which was introduced by the European Union in 2008, to simplify
formal customs procedures, speed up delivery of goods and improve the security of EU external borders. To achieve this status, DP World Limassol had to fulfill certain strict criteria including customs compliance, sound safety and security practices, appropriate record-keeping standards and financial solvency. DP World Limassol has been has been operating at the port for four years. The benefits to the company include increased international credibility, quicker customs clearance, fewer physical and document checks as well as fewer security and safety-related controls. DP World Limassol also benefits from the Mutual Recognition of AEO programmes between the EU and third countries. In April 2016 DP World Limassol was awarded a 25-year concession to exclusively operate the multi-purpose and Cruise terminal in Limassol commencing February 2017. The terminal’s activities, comprising of three multi-purpose quays, include break-bulk, general cargo, Ro-Ro, Oil & Gas services and the brand-new passenger terminal. DP World Limassol port is the main cruise port of the island located on the Southern coast of Cyprus and considered as one of the largest and busiest ports of the Mediterranean.
