Bari, Italy (PortSEurope) April 16, 2018 – Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Meridionale (AdSP – Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority) has reported that dredging has started at Barletta port.
Sediment is being removed from the mouth of the port to improve navigability, with a new depth of 6.75 metres and a width of least 100 metres.
AdSP president Ugo Patroni Griffi said that the project had been delayed by bureaucratic holdups, but these had been freed up and returning the port to its full operation would benefit the economy of the entire territory, and especially for the fishing industry.
