Duisburg Inland Port Expands Its Activities In China

Duisburg, Germany (PortSEurope) December 2, 2019 – Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport) and China Railway Container Transport Corp (CRCT), part of China State Railway Group Co, have signed an agreement to further expand China Railway Express traffic.

With this cooperation, the two companies will promote rail transport between China and Duisburg, developing the latter’s role as one of Europe’s leading inland ports. Currently, up to 40 trains run between Duisburg and China weekly.

“By working with CRCT, we not only create an additional offer for our customers, but also increase capacity utilization and increase efficiency”, said Duisport CEO Erich Staake.

On November 26, 2019, CRCT officially opened its European branch in Duisburg with CRCT Europe Logistics GmbH.

China Railway Container Transport Corp. Ltd. is a transportation, trucking and railroad company based in Beijing, China.

In October 2019, Duisburger Hafen AG announced that it would build a trimodal container terminal with the international partners COSCO Shipping Logistics, Hupac SA and the HTS Group.
