Durrës, Albania (PortSEurope) June 18, 2019 – Last week, the German Albanian Logistics Agency (GALA) completed the project to unload and store sheet steel piles at Durrës port for the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project.
For over nine months, GALA has supported the companies preparing the route for the offshore part of TAP on the Albanian side. The same procedure will start soon on the Italian side, where GALA’s sister company Italian Shipping & Logistics Agency (ISLA) will take over as service supplier.
The offshore projects started in September 2018, when GALA helped to unload and store 2,800 tons of sheet piles. The total eventually reached 130,000 tons.
Both start and end of the TAP project in Albanian involved GALA’s sister company EMS APO. The terminal operator acted as receiving point for the pipelines and as hub for the services for the offshore works.
“The fact, that GALA was repeatedly selected as service provider, shows our ability to deliver first-class services to our clients”, said Fation Dervishi, branch manager of GALA.
Located in the Port of Durrës, GALA is a full service provider for logistics solutions, and is part of the German EMS-Fehn-Group, which is active in chartering, logistics, special transports, world-wide yacht transport, ship management, crane logistics, stevedoring, port terminal operations, warehousing, intra-logistics and crewing.
TAP will transport Caspian natural gas to Europe. Connecting with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek-Turkish border, TAP will cross Northern Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before coming ashore in Southern Italy to connect to the Italian natural gas network.
