Durrës, Albania (PortSEurope) September 20, 2018 – In January-August 2018, the port of Durrës handled 2.42 million tons of goods, up 25,000 tons on the same period of 2017.

Port statistics show that ferries transported from Durrës, Bari and Ancona, some 570,000 tons of different goods loaded in trucks and trains, an increase of 8%. The rest is processed on merchant shipping vessels.

Autoriteti Portual Durres (Port Authority of Durrës) sector statistics suggests that about 300,000 tons of goods were processed in August, or 7% more than in August 2017.

Since the beginning of this year, 372 commercial vessels and 689 ferries have been handled by the country’s largest port.

Over 90,000 TEU containers were processed in the period. During January-August 2018, 122 specialized vessels were processed. Figures for January-July 2018 show a total of 15,532 TEU. Specialized vessels have processed 45,527 TEU containers for export, while import containers figures in eight months totaled 45,229.

Since the beginning of the year, over 990,000 tons of goods have been processed in the port of Durrës with containers.
